No Spend August

I got paid today.

I was dreading looking at my bank account, because I knew I used my credit card some. I also spent a few hundred bucks on Amazon and eBay that wasn’t really necessary. But I was happy to see I wasn’t in the hole at all and in fact, my account looked pretty decent. I paid off the card and paid my bills and had enough left over I felt like I was missing something.

Originally, I had a plan to buy some blu-rays and DVDs. I wanted to pick up the season one 4k release of Reacher as well as a complete series of Buffy, but the more I thought about it, the more I didn’t want to spend the money. It’s been a long time since I’ve tried to go and not spend any unnecessary money for a month and well… I think August is going to be that for me.

I decided against attending GalaxyCon as the actors strike ruined some of the fun and then against getting an Xbox Series X once I realized it wasn’t as backwards compatable as the Xbox 360 was. AEW Rampage is coming up but I’m not interested in making the trip to Greenboro and honestly, I think I’d just like to pocket a little money.

I have plenty of video games I haven’t played or haven’t beat. I have plenty of DVDs I haven’t watched. I got books I haven’t opened. I think this month I’m going to dedicate myself to getting use of some of those things instead of replacing them with new distractions. Heck, let’s be honest, I’ll probably still be spending my time watching Smallville or Burn Notice anyway.

I went ahead and turned off some of the extra streaming services as well and I’ve just made as many concessions as I could to save a few dollars. I guess we’ll see how this works out next month.
