Random Thoughts - Vol. 1
Random ThoughtsStewart Fails to Save the Universe
Wow... so, I went into this with low expectations. I mean, I liked the cast and their characters from The Big Bang Theory, and I even appreciated the attempt to do soemthing different, but after this series ran its course, I really have no idea what the point was. It had one of the worse endings I've ever seen for a TV show, and I really felt like nothing was accomplished other than a few guest spots from the cast you'd rather see. This was a HUGE dissapointment.
Microsoft Disc-to-Digital
I purchased a copy of Call of Duty Black Ops 6 on Woot for cheap, since that was a solid COD game and one my wife loved. She's been craving some Call of Duty since the beta for this years Modern Warfare and since we don't have Game Pass Ultimate and she's not into the older series like Black Ops 2, I figured what the heck. It was $15.
I popped the disc in and selected Disc to Digital and after one quick menu letting me know it was linked to this specific disc and not to discard of it, I was up and running. That was way easier than expected and it worked like a charm. Kudos to Microsoft for making this beyond easy.
However, I also purchased an copy of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3+4, since I no longer have GamePass Ultimate and despite Microsoft owning Activision, the game is no part of the disc-to-digital program. That makes no sense.
PAC
In 2011, I attended a Dragongate USA wrestling event in Burlington, North Carolina. The main event was PAC and Ricochet vs. Akira Tozawa and Chuck Taylor. Once the match was finished, I knew I'd seen something new. This guy PAC was incredible. His athleticism was so beyond everything I'd seen in pro wrestling and despite his smaller stature, he just screamed "This guy is a star." A few years later, he got his chance in the WWE and then in AEW. Sadly, last weekend he passed away at the age of forty. He was found hunched over his steering wheel in the parking lot of a restaurant with what is presume to have been a heart attack. Sure, we lost a talented wrestler, and supposed all-around great guy, but its also a grim reminder that our time here is fleeting and we need to make the most of every moment.
Leavy for Freddy
Kudos to this guy for calling his own shot. Filmmaker Michael Leavy, who's facial structure shares some features with Robert Englund, the actor who is best known as Freddy Kruger, created a short film with him dressed as Freddy Kruger. You can see the similarities and he created this as a sort of online petition to be cast in one of the two upcoming Nightmare on Elm Street movies. I'm not sure if it'll work, but his performance was solid and I feel like an unknown actor is a much better choice than trying to put a name in that role.
Skatesteere
Well... this is truly something random. A few weeks ago, I ran across a new game on Xbox called Skatesteere. It looked like a low-budget Tony Hawk knock-off, and well it is. The terrible name originates from the individual the game is based on, a Dutch Instagram model/skater/surfer Sterre Meijer.
The reviews have been bad-mid, as the game is full of glitches, and is basically a watered down Tony Hawk Pro Skater. You can only play as Sterre, the levels seem lifted from THPS, and the game does nothing incredible. Still, as a huge fan of THPS, I'll gladly play this once its around the $5 mark or if the developers decide to patch the game and work to make it better (which it doesn't seem like they are doing).
